Want to build AI systems that ship to production? Let's talk.

Mahmoud Essam

I build AI agents and ML systems that ship to production.

AI engineer at eSpace in Alexandria. I train models, then do the less glamorous part: wiring them into real workflows and keeping them running in production.

About

From research notebooks to production systems.

I studied Data Science at Alexandria University and graduated in 2025. Most of my work sits between research and production: medical imaging, content moderation, and now multi-agent systems, RAG search and MCP tooling running in production at eSpace.

I care about the parts that make a model useful after the notebook: reproducible training, tracked experiments, models small enough to deploy, and APIs someone can actually call.

    eSpace

    CurrentNov 2025 – Present

End-to-end AI solutions in the ATSO team, from multi-agent systems and RAG search to internal AI tooling and fine-tuned models.

    • Developed an AI Quality Control assistant that automated 86% of the QC Life Cycle Testing Process, cutting its weight from 30% to 10%.
    • Designed a parallel multi-agent document-generation system with output guardrails, enabling bilingual (Arabic/English) report generation 70% faster.
    • Engineered enterprise-grade hybrid RAG search pipelines across 8,600+ documents, using pgvector, vector embeddings and re-ranking.
    • Created an internal AI marketplace for our Agentic SDLC, where 6 tools and 2 MCP servers were deployed to give agents secure access to internal platforms.
    • Implemented an AI-powered anomaly detection system that analyzes 18 months of timesheet data to flag suspicious activity in real time during logging.
    • Benchmarked 14 token-optimization tools and 6 AI coding agents to shape the team's AI stack.
    • Fine-tuned specialized LLMs, computer vision and video generation models with LoRA and QLoRA.
    • Mentored 7 engineering interns through the end-to-end development and deployment of the Executive Hub project.

    Jul 2025 – Aug 2025 · 2 mos

Built an end-to-end AI application with the ATSO team: a Bayesian model that detects bots and frustrated users, an LLM-based recommender, and n8n automations for the API integrations, all containerised with Docker.
